Ball Time

Today was a very busy day. Aden played a great game of Football, he had a perfect tackle and made some other great plays too. They played Theodore and today was their 1st loss. 22-16. They played a good game though, I actually like the games better when the other team tries and is scoring some too, last week we played Semmes and beat them I think 32-0 was the score. I mean after the 1st half we knew we were going to win and it becomes kind of point-less, but of course we stay and root on our boys. Aden Loves football and want to go pro. I think it is scarry to think about your child going pro at anything, but football wow! Landon wants to play too, and he could have this year, but I am so scared because he is so so small that I am making him wait until next year, I told him he was just to little this year and for real I am not sure he weighed enough he's only 35 pounds on a good eating day!

Madalyn had softball tryouts today she is in 12 and under, Jason coaches the team as he has since she was 8. By the looks of things they are going to have a really good team this season. I wish I could go to more of her games, but with the boys playing stuff too and cubscouts I am not able to do it, Jason and I can not trade out because he coaches so he misses a lot of what the boys do while softball season is going on.

Catch 22 life

It seemes everything you do in like is a catch 22, or somekind of "law". Today it was about Landon.
When Landon went for his 4 year check up in July his ped. told me she could not understand anything he was saying. I can understand most of it, but no one else really understands most of what he is saying. So the 1st step with that is to set up a hearing screen. He passed that at the peds office a few days later. We were then sent to the ENT because he has had problems with his ears. Our ENT is great, she retested his ears twice and both times passed he has great hearing (you would never be able to tell this though lol). Our ENT said he did have a speech delay though so that is when he was being set up with speech. I do not WANT my child to have a hearing problem, but if he had a very very small one he would already be getting speech at this point. So the like I had said USA has a long waiting list, so I called the special education office yesterday and she was not there. She called me back today and gave me another phone number to the lady that sets you up with the school, but when I called her she then gave me another number to the lady that does the screenings. I called her and left a message, I did not hear back from her today. I do not know how delayed they have to be to get into this program, but I am pretty sure its pretty far behind. So again I know I do not want him to be so far behind that he needs to be in the school system to get help, BUT I do want him in speech.
Things should be easier when it comes to your kids.

Landon's Speech

I called the ENT yesterday who sat Landon up in speech, I still have not heard from them and I was told it would only take a week, two max. So I called when it had been just a week as I as told to do and they told me that they were doing it through CRS (children's rehab. services) and that they had to wait for the doctors letters to be typed out and faxed over, she said they had done that and it school be soon. Well now its been 3 weeks so I called back. Today I learned that CRS turned Landon down for services because he does not have a hearing loss, so CRS send all the kids with speech problems with out hearing problems to USA Childrens Speech Services, and they have a wait list, no child is put higher on the list for and reason they are placed on the list as they come in and when their name comes up then they call you. When asked how long the wait would be they told me they could not say because someone have to go out of speech for someone to go in. BUT I got the vibe that the list was a long one. I asked the ENT nurse what I should do and she thought school or pre-k or paying for speech with out insurance would be the fastest ways to get him speech! OK well that would be great if we had the kind of money to pay for speech out of our pocket, or if we had the money to send him to the kind of school it would take to get him in the kind of speech he needed to be in.
Then I thought back to Aden, when Aden was 3 months old he got EI (early intervention) through the state. Twice a week they came to our house and "played" with Aden to catch him up to where he was suppose to be. He got PT and OT until he was 15 months old. I googled and found that their are two programs one is for birth to age 3 years and the other is for 3years to 21 years old. I called the number and the lady who deals with mobile county is out today of course, she should be back in her office in the morning so I left her a voice mail. They will test him to see if he an get sevices through them. They test any child that there is a call on. BUT I am not sure if he will be behind enough to get them.
Its catch 22, I am so glad his hearing is fine, but now that it is we are on a wait list for ST. I do not want him to be so far behind that we can get EI, but if he is not that far behind how long will he have to wait.
He starts School next year so I know he will be getting speech then I just really hope we do not have to wait a year to get him some help. The earlier you start the better the out comes are!!

Back up

I was reading through old post and wanted to catch up on Landon a bit. He is 4 now and doing really good. He is 34 pounds and healthy. He has had a 2nd set of ear tubes a year after the 1st ones because they feel out, he also got his adnoides out at the same time. He is now going for speech therapy soon. The ENT set it up for us, but we have to wait on the developmental place to call us. No one can understand most of what he is saying. I understand about half of him. We have had his hearing tested twice and both were normal. The ENT said the one she did was perfect. So that is great. But he is speech delayed and it is caused from all the ear problems he has had when he was so very young. I will update when I know when we go.
Lanond did out grow his reflux and eats everything you can think of.

Dentist

I took all 5 of the kids to the dentist yesterday, they all did so good. Madalyn still has not problems she never has needed anything except a cleaning done, thank goodness. And she does not need braces, Yay!! Collin has one crown in his mouth and its loose so the are going to pull it next month, so that his new tooth has somewhere to grow into. He also had some small fillings done at another dentist a year ago and they have either chipped off are are loose, so they are going to also replace all of those fillings on that day too. Aden for the 1st time is good and needs nothing but a cleaning in 6 months. Landon is good and needs nothing for 6 months. Haleigh's acid reflux has done some damage on her teeth. Just like it did Aden's and Landon's. So I am trying new things to get her to let me brush her teeth better. The one and only thing that has seemed to help is her watching the other kids brush their teeth, and when I am brushing Landon's tonight she wanted me to do hers too, so that is really good. I hope that ends the tooth brushing fights soon.

1st day of school

Today was the 1st day back to school. The kids were ready and so was I!! Collin started the 4th grade, his teacher is nice and I believe he will do well in her class. He came home today telling me that he just loves 4th grade and how this year is going to be great. Aden is in the 1st grade, he has the same teacher Madalyn had in 1st grade. She is so nice, Madalyn and I enjoyed her when she had her, Madalyn still thinks of her as her best teacher ever. Not that there weren't some other great teachers in there too, but 1st grade is so fun, the kids still want to be at school and are not scared like they are in K-5. Aden came home telling me his teacher is the best ever and how she is nice all the way to her bones, that is so Aden!!
Madalyn is in 6th grade and I would like to say she has good teachers too and i would if we were sure of who they are. She will have 4 teachers and p.e. Today she went to her homeroom teacher and was told she was not in that class, the 2nd class she went to they sent her to a 3rd. well by that time she was sent to Math, the sience class. After that it was time for homeroom again and her 3rd homeroom teacher told her to go back to the 1st homeroom, so she did, then she was sent to the office and sat till lunch cause no one knew where she was suppose to be at. After lunch she was told to go to p.e. and then the office took her to her homeroom teachers class. The 1st class she was in is the class she is suppose to be in, so they say! I am so mad that she had to sit in the office half the day and the other half in a class with kids she got to kinda know to now be in another class altogether! It really sucked. I told her it will get better from here and she can not bace her whole year on the 1st day. I hope she believed me. At least she knows a lot of people and has friends already, if she didn't it would have been a really bad day!

Landon is getting over strap, he is still on his meds, but has not had any fever today. Haleigh on the other hand has had fever and has been throwing up half the day. I called the office after she puked all over Jason, but the sick clinic was closed already and it was 4:30 so I thought they would be. They asked if I wanted to talk to the doctor case he was still there, but I told them I would call back if she got worse but as it is now she could wait until the morning. And she is not worse, but not really any better either. So I will probl have to take her in the morning to see the doctor.

All 5 of the kids have dentist appointments in the afternoon tomarrow. I have to get the boys at 1pm so I can get Madalyn at 1:30 so I can be in fairhope at 3pm, I need to be back in mobile at 5 for Aden's football, but if I don't make it back it will be ok, he has not missed a day and they do not really start until 6pm, so if we get back a little late it will be ok to be late to football.

Last day of school

Today was the last day of school, the kids had a good time and Madalyn had a great time its her last day of elem. school. She will start in Middle School in the fall. They had a thing graduation today and the whole time all I was thinking was about the day she was born, about how scared I was to be a mom and how happy I was that I was not pregnant any more. I was surprised about how big she was and how much time she spent awake, as I had been told newborns sleep a lot. I was in pain, I was in love with this tiny baby I had only just met hours before. I was sad every time they would take her to the nursery for a "check". I still do not know what they ment by that as they never took any other my others for "checks" every few hours, maybe it was because I was so young, maybe it was USA hospital, who knows. I never thought about her growing up that day, I never thought about her moving on to middle school, high school, getting married, having babies, I never thought about any of that the day she was born, yet on days like today all I think about is that day almost 12 years ago.
I really do wish their childhood could last just a little longer, while I love watching them develope into the people they are going to become, I do not like that it happens so very fast.
Maybe that is why I have 5, because it goes so fast. Because I am not ready to not have babies in my house any more, because every life is worth it!
Now, I have made my self cry,
I am going to go make dinner!
